We were the only local firm selected with two others to develop conceptual master plan studies for the Benjamin Rose Institute to examine alternatives to develop a continuity of care community on their site at Martin Luther King Boulevard. For the steeply sloped site overlooking the beaux arts Baldwin Water Plant and views to downtown, we proposed a large vertical facility for assisted and skilled nursing care at the top of the site, overlooking garden apartments and English mews-type housing clusters - all designed to control the car.
Our “Alpha” and “Omega” plans both featured extensive terraces, landscaping and water features to create a genuine pedestrian neighborhood to engage residents and guests to exercise and interact. Our “Outside-the-Box” scheme featured more daring plan configurations to create more dynamic common areas for residents and differentiating architecture.
