This 1923 Shaker home featured a Federalist exterior with an Adam interior, and the “most handsome dining room in Shaker.” Untouched by its previous owners for 17 years, the home lacked finishes, adequate power, lighting and yard improvements for this family of four.
Large gracious rooms on the main floor enabled entertaining well once new finishes, lighting and an art program were implemented. The staff bedrooms at the rear of the house were converted to guest bedrooms and the five bedrooms at the main house were refurbished, with one captured as the family’s study/ office.
Stone walk and patios were added at the exterior along with a new landscape plan that enlarged the north yard six feet on all sides to enable sports activities for family events and holiday gatherings.
