Kobe Steel USA wanted to accommodate extensive travel and site visits from its executives, provide a residence for an Area General Manager, and entertain clients in a quality setting. Kobe purchased a 1908 Georgian lakefront mansion and retained us to undertake a massive renovation in only 90 days.

The residence’s heating, cooling and electrical infrastructure was replaced. New data and telephone lines were routed but concealed throughout the residence. New condensing units were located behind a stone roof parapet, and new ductwork incorporated in basement areas and a second floor perimeter soffit so as to not disfigure the grand interior spaces.

Antique furniture, window treatments, art, accessories, china, serving pieces, linens, books, audio, video, data and office equipment were selected and acquired to attain the impossible schedule objectives. Furniture pieces are scaled to the large areas, but were also selected for portability where appropriate to accommodate a wide range of uses. The first and second floor of the central and east wings are large formal areas for visiting executives and guests.
